Big and Tall Work Pants: 44 to 66 Waist

Links go to Amazon. We don't get paid for clicks or sales today. If that changes, we'll say so here. Details
Short answer: for a 44 to 60 waist, start with the Lee Extreme Motion cargo pant (to a 60 waist on its listing). For the biggest range, the Berne Heartland carpenter pant goes to a 66 waist with Tall and Extra-Tall inseams. The Carhartt Rugged Flex canvas pant goes to 54.
Most work pants stop at a 42 or 44 waist. The three below are the ones whose published size ranges go past that. We checked the listings on Nov 3, 2026, with a size actually selected. Apparel stock changes by the hour, so the colors and sizes we could confirm that night are a caution, not a promise. Check your exact size and color. Nothing here is hands-on. Every line is from published specs.
What to look for
- A real waist number. Check the listing's size grid for your exact waist and inseam, not just the brand's range.
- Some stretch. 2% spandex or a flex waistband makes kneeling, climbing and sitting in a truck easier.
- A relaxed seat and thigh. Big guys run out of room there before the waist.
- Your inseam. Carhartt's chart pairs 6'0" to 6'3" with a 34 to 36-inch inseam.
1. Lee Big & Tall Extreme Motion Canvas Cargo Pant: best overall
The Amazon listing runs from a 42 to a 60 waist, with inseams from 28 to 36 (the biggest waists come in fewer lengths). It is 98% cotton and 2% spandex with a flex waistband and a straight leg. Lee's own page for the Big & Tall Extreme Motion cargo lists a 16 7/8-inch leg opening. The Amazon copy says 19 inches, so compare the garment measurement on the page you buy.
A stretch waistband and a little give suit a big frame that kneels and climbs. Check your exact size and color. On Nov 3, Black and Shadow were the colors we could confirm at 44×30, 48×30 and 54×30.

2. Berne Heartland Washed Duck Relaxed Fit Carpenter Pant: biggest range
Berne's listing goes to a 66 waist, the widest range we found, with Short, Regular, Tall and Extra-Tall inseams. It is a 10 oz washed duck carpenter pant in a relaxed fit, with a hammer loop and utility pockets. It has fewer reviews than the other picks (136 on the Amazon listing when we checked), so there is less feedback to go on.
If you are past a 60 waist or need an extra-long inseam, this is one of the only work pants on Amazon that covers that range on the listing. Check your exact size and color. On Nov 3, Navy was the color we could confirm through 52, and Navy 54 was not available.

Work pants questions
How big do Carhartt work pants go?
Carhartt says its big and tall pants go up to a 60-inch waist and a 36-inch inseam. That is line-wide, so not every style comes in every size. The Rugged Flex canvas pant we list stops at 54. Check the size grid on the exact pant.
Where should I measure my waist for work pants?
Carhartt says to bend side to side and measure at that natural bend, which may not be the smallest point. Measure over underwear with a cloth tape. Also measure where you actually wear your pants, since that can differ from the natural waist, and compare both with the chart.
What inseam should a tall guy get?
Carhartt's height chart pairs 6'0" to 6'3" with a 34 to 36-inch inseam and 5'7" to 5'11" with 32 inches. Work boots and kneeling take up length, so tall guys who kneel a lot often go longer. Berne's Heartland also comes in Extra-Tall.
Do big and tall work pants run small?
Some do. Reviewers often say some workwear waists run small, and Carhartt sizing varies between models. Measure yourself, compare with the chart on the exact listing, and buy one pair first before you stock up.
The bottom line
Start with the Lee Extreme Motion if you are 60 or under. Go Berne Heartland if you need a bigger waist or an extra-tall inseam. Pick the Carhartt Rugged Flex if you want Carhartt and fit a 54. See all clothing on our clothing page, how to measure in the fit guide, and pair them with wide work shoes.
